Smizzle Burger - Uncle Sam Smash Burger @ Bangkok in Thailand

When travelling to Thailand, most foreigners would have nothing but Thai cuisine to satisfy their long awaited craving! Not for us, I always believe in variety and decided to check out Smizzle Burger in my most recent visit to Bangkok.

Great to have such a tagline although it's a double edged sword; un-burger-lievable good or bad? However, you can look at it as a challenge and fill in the blank later.

Personally, I love it when restaurants were designed with bright and bold colors as they infer a positive and fun attitude, which I always look forward to in life. And it makes photo-taking a lot more easier.

The one sauce lacking from the table would be chilli sauce! It's interesting to note that in Thailand, you don't really see bottles of Thai sweet chilli sauce, unlike in Singapore where you can get numerous FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) brands offering it in supermarkets.

Here's my selection - Uncle Sam burger, with a bottle of mineral water, and truffle fries! One standard serving for both Alex and I since it's important to leave some stomach space for other food throughout the day!

Truffle Fries - it's difficult to make a decision between truffle fries and tater tots! Other "fries" options included normal fries, curly fries and messy fries!

Crispy but not piping hot, and with a light truffle flavor that I would deem too weak to make an impression. Thankfully, the accompanying tub of mayonnaise came to the rescue. Only thing lacking would be some Thai sweet chilli sauce.

Uncle Sam - described as "double patties, double cheese, sliced onion, dill pickles and the smizzle sauce", you have the option of either pork ("premium quality pork blended with smoke bacon") or beef.

Beef patties were said to be "premium charolais 300-day grain-fed and antibiotics and hormones free". I chose beef even though pork would have been more interesting. While double patties are the norm, you can choose to have just one patty and the pricing would be reduced accordingly.

Despite the flattened smashed look of the patties, the middles were thicker with a fresh, buttery juiciness and I absolutely loved their thin, crispy edges! Even the buns were pan-fried on both sides till they were lightly crisp!

To me, Uncle Saw was a simple, no-frill burger that would satisfy the burger craving for any burger aficionado. According to the counter staff, crusty blond was their chef recommended burger, which I would be sure to try on my next visit! p.s. almost did a few days later but didn't materialize due to a lack of time.
