Waa Cow Yakiniku - myVillage @ Serangoon Garden [Singapore]

Close friends are aware of my deep love for Waa Cow and if not for its increased pricing, which is further subject to GST; I would have dined there much more often!

Nevertheless, the above didn't stop me from dropping by its latest venture; Waa Cow Yakiniku! Located at myVillage @ Serangoon Garden, I shall also take the opportunity to check out my old haunt and also the shop I used to work for almost twenty years ago!

Blue concept at Waa Cow Yakiniku with the eye catching 12-5 meters long wall mural giving splashes of colors that exuded some kind of nostalgia fun! Wait, that school of waa cow looks like the education resource centre at UTown.

Grill for our yakiniku meal shortly! Those vents did a great job in sucking up the barbecue smell that some find disgusting; it can be a bit overwhelming when you are super full.

The two basic dips for your grilled meat; ponzu negi and garlic butter teriyaki! As the name suggests, the ponzu was sour whereas the garlic butter teriyaki was much more appetizing. Needless to say, it's the must dip for all the meat I had later on.

You can also top up S$3.90 for the signature all dips platter consisting of sweet sukiyaki, spicy miso with leek, mentaiko, truffle and wasabi mayo. Well, I am sufficiently happy with my garlic butter teriyaki.

Our set came with a free drink! You can choose between bottled water, coke, ayataka green tea or hot green tea. Nowadays, I will go for non-sweetened version and given the hot day; bottled water was preferred.

We got three meats to share; Feather Blade (100 grams), Trio Beef Set (Karubi, Tongue and Sirloin) and Premium Pork Collar (150 grams). Those who don't know what to order; karubi is always the safest!

Plus a serving of recommended Jap Pork Sausage. From the picture, there was just one bowl of rice but out company of three all upgraded the premium Japanese rice to truffle rice, at S$2.00 each.

Truffle Rice - there was some hype about it but in reality, the rice had that light, faint truffle fragrance that honestly wasn't impressive enough for me to top up to make the switch. Anyway, the meat would matter more than just the rice.

Jap Pork Sausage - even though the sausages were delicious, I can't help comparing them with the frozen pork sausages from the Tatsumoto brand that you can easily purchase from NTUC. They were equally good.

Meat on the grille!

Essentially, I was happy with all the well-marinated meat that tasted insanely delicious with the garlic butter teriyaki dip! Personal favorites had to be the feather blade and karubi, which were oily and lip-smacking good.

Would love to return soon!
