It was just a customary visit to temple street night market when lo and behold, there's this Mammy Pancake shop right in front of me! For those who are unaware, its branch at Carnarvon Road was a recipient of the Michelin - The Plate and i had been looking forward to having its signature classic egg waffle even before i flew to Hong Kong!
There wasn't much of a queue and it's unsurprising since it's not the award winning shop in Tsim Sha Tsui and i just checked their website; in Hong Kong alone, there are 16 branches! Anyway, the television shows the order number for collection. So do hold on to your receipt.
The egg waffle that i had been waiting for, for so long! I actually went to Tsim Sha Tsui on Day Two but i visited the wrong shop (么么DA雞蛋仔) and the egg waffle there was quite a disappointment.
This was way better! Featuring a texture so crispy; the best way to enjoy it is to break up the little pockets and throw them into your mouth! The taste was light, not cloyingly sweet and surrounded with a mouthwatering eggy aroma that i found so addictive!
Before i knew it, i was down to my last piece! Now, i like crispy stuff but i can imagine that some might find the egg waffle to be a tad too crispy for their liking.
