Chong Pang Nasi Lemak - The Original One Next to Chong Pang Camp @ Yishun [Singapore] #chongpangnasilemak

Chong Pang Nasi Lemak isn't as famous as the ones from Chang Village but its fame in the notorious town of Yishun means you do find a number of copycats.

Today, we are going to check out the original Chong Pang Nasi Lemak that's located in the shophouse right next to Chong Pang Camp. It has been there for as long as i remember although i don't really patronize much nowadays given its operating hours from 5.00 pm till 6.30 am!

Mixed vegetables rice concept where you choose the dishes you want which i personally dislike as it tends to dilute what nasi lemak really is. However, it does provide a wider variety for diners who are merely accompanying their friends who have cravings for nasi lemak.

And in addition to nasi lemak rice and bee hoon, you can also opt for the less sinful white rice or noodles (not sure what kind this is as some Chinese style nasi lemak stalls do offer kway teow, yellow noodles).

My standard - two chicken wings, one fried egg and curry vegetables on top of a pile of coconut milk infused rice. Reduced rice of course as i tried not to eat too much carbohydrates at night.

In my opinion, there are two things i extremely enjoyed at Chong Pang Nasi Lemak; one of which is the chilli paste. Please be assured that it's not the pungent, tongue numbing kind; rather, it's kind of sweet with a nice flavour that's perfect for the rice.

The chicken wing is another clear winner; maybe because we had ours freshly fried and scalding hot from the boiling oil. It was delish with a crunchy batter that's appeared to bear signs of Malay-style chicken wings (turmeric was added?). Dip into the chilli for added shiokness!

It's a dilemma for me; to finish the chilli, i need rice but i am not going to have so much rice so late at night! p.s. the coconut milk rice was quite good but to me, my favourite is still Star Hup Lee Nasi Lemak in Yishun!
