Restoran Teo Seafood Restaurant in Kuah Town @ Langkawi Island [Malaysia]

I don't fancy late dinners but a ferry delay of about 45 minutes from Kuala Kedah jumbled up my plan; by the time we reached Teo Seafood Restaurant in Kuah Town, it was almost 8.00 pm and you can bet my entire fortune that we were famished!

Was there a specific reason for choosing this place? Well, i figure it would be rather late when we arrived back in Langkawi and way before my trip, i was already researching for a decent restaurant near the ferry terminal.

Teo Seafood Restaurant popped out in a few blogs and recent reviews on Google Map Review were quite good. Guess we would be quite safe, considering that my two travel mates are picky with what they eat.

Never, ever sit near the tanks! Bear the risk of having the water in the tank splashing onto you when the chefs remove the fresh seafood and don't even expect an apology. There was none for us.

List of specials in the restaurant; we didn't rely on it as i was more looking at the recommendations from the blogs and on dishes that interest us. Dishes with frogs, curry and wild boar and those that appeared like a strange combination would be eliminated immediately!

Red Date Tea - served with ice, this was cloudy and unlike the Korean ones i am better acquainted with. Taste wise, no complaint even though i prefer the Korean ones. p.s. i can't remember how much i paid for it.

Sweet and Sour Pork - when i was young, sweet and sour pork was the one thing i could have frequently with just plain, white rice. This evoked the good memory of the old school taste and it was so full of sauce; how i wish i could have a plate of steaming white rice!

Salad You Tiao - i still remember the first time i tried salad you tiao; i was totally blown away by the combo consisting the crispiness of the Chinese cruellers, the sweet softness of the squid paste inside and the generous serving of mayonnaise dressing on top!

This was an utter disappointment! The inside tasted bland like it was full of flour and there wasn't sufficient mayonnaise! And this was considered as one of the specials on the menu!?

Butter Prawns - we didn't want to spend too much on seafood and opted for just 300 grams of the prawns which gave us a total of six rather decently sized prawns.

Those fried stuff was just downright salty and while the prawns tasted very fresh, the fact that the accessory was less than satisfactory made it hard for us to give a great review unless we are only looking at the freshness of the prawns.

Furong Omelette - slightly on the saltier spectrum without a bowl of plain rice to go with it; i can only thank the sweetness of the onions for balancing out the saltiness.

Fried Kway Teow - smelt heavenly with a nail-it look; this was sadly not comparable to the kind we have in Singapore. It lacked the wok hei and flavour that would have perfectly complemented the aroma and appearance.

Gravy Horfun - with two noodle dishes, now you know why we can't order white rice! Anyway, this didn't impress us too and the comment we had would be similar to the fried kway teow.

=====

In general, i thought this meal was quite a waste of calories as the two noodles dishes were major letdowns. However, the meal cost us less than RM 90 and that's quite a steal given that the prawns in Singapore would have already cost us about two-thirds of this meal in Langkawi
