I am very fussy when it comes to waffles; for one, weather plays a very important role in determining the level of enjoyment one could have from that piece of warmly baked waffle.
Which isn't a very big problem given that the indoor temperature for most shopping centres in Singapore is usually set at the lowest possible level!

Anyway, we are going to talk about a shop called Buttercup located in Square 2 [an extension to the original Novena Square] and its offerings, besides waffles, included muffins, wraps, cakes, taco balls and beverages.
The person who introduced me to this place was none other than the Great Kon, who could not stop telling us how delicious the waffles were when the gang of four was there previously! It is a must try whenever he happens to drop by the shopping mall.
I was particularly impressed with the butter & maple syrup waffle; one out of eighteen flavours (count original, blueberry, orange, peach, oreo+whipped cream, chocolate+banana etc) on the menu board.
Why?
In addition to a slight crisp that eventually ended with a fluffy bite, it tasted nice and buttery in its original form. Most notable was the butter + maple syrup topping (everyone loves to have it) which gave me the impression of having the beloved Macdonald's pancakes.
But without that sinfully cloying after-sensation that normally hits me after a Macdonald's breakfast session!
