Ostrich Cuisine @ Surf & Turf Restaurant, Desaru Ostrich Farm (Johor, Malaysia)

There's no fresher place to have ostrich meat other than directly from a farm that keeps hundreds of them within the compound.

I am usually not keen to try exotic meat but the constant bombardment of ostrich satay (posters all over the farm) was just too hard to resist and according to the nutrition article above, a hundred gram of ostrich meat is lower in calories, cholesterol, fats than chicken, lamb, pork and beef of an equivalent weight!

This is where i broke my virginity for eating my first ostrich meat; Surf & Turf Restaurant. God knows where this name originated from as it has no relevance to ostrich; i initially thought it sells fish and chips!

Ostrich Egg Omelette
At RM 8 (roughly S$3.30) per plate, the first thing that hit me was the glaringly yellow colour of the omelette.

Notwithstanding the bright yellowness, it tasted pretty normal. I could have a much bigger omelette if i buy RM 8 worth of chicken eggs instead.

Ostrich Satay
Ostrich meat is labelled under the category of red meat and its satay (at a pricey RM 1.80 per stick) did not impress. Granted it tasted almost like mutton satay and was all meat with minimal fat content, i just love the chew and aroma of unhealthy, oily fats.
