Good Luck Restoran (Seafood Lunch) - 泗湾幸运海鲜酒楼 @ Sungai Rengit, Pengerang, Johor, Malaysia

Over the weekend, a few of my relatives organised an impromptu trip up north to Malaysia via ferry, in an area to the south of Desaru known as Pengerang.

I shall follow up with another post on what pengerang has to offer but in the meantime, maybe i should touch on the main reason why many Singaporeans would gladly drive an hour or two to this tiny town.

Main Reason: Fresh seafood and most notably, the lobsters.

The cab driver recommended the good luck restaurant (restoran  and since we have not done our homework prior to the trip, we went with the flow, hoping that regardless of what happen, we can always pray for good luck!

Our fears were unfounded as the restaurant was filled with diners and you could see many Singapore-registered vehicles parked outside; always a good sign that the food is suitable for Singaporeans.

What the hell is this picture?! Due to goondu me, i had accidentally turned my camera mode to some weird setting and only this picture of hot plate oyster omelette (tasted great with rice) and sambal steamed barramundi fish (love the sweet sambal which mum dislikes) turns out okay.

A seafood lunch is never complete without crabs!!! Steamed crabs usually don't fail so long they are fresh, which was exactly the case here.

This could almost be awarded the best cereal prawns i ever have! Hot cereal flakes that playfully teased your taste buds were fantastic when mixed with plain white rice.

My only grouch?
The prawns had a muddy aftertaste.

Highlight of the day; deep fried lobsters!

It was my first time to have lobsters cooked in such sinful style and though i have never had it before, i have always thought lobster meat is dry with barely any taste and is popular only because of its auspicious Chinese term Long Xia - 龙虾 (translated to Dragon Prawn).

Ignorance.

An instant overflow of seafood sweetness hit me when i bit into this chunk! The after sensation could only be described as perfect satisfaction.

Yup was there last evening and saw the aftermath. Think I spoke to the owner and told me they might not want to rebuild the restaurant.
