Fatty Cheong Bu Jian Tian Wanton Noodle @ ABC Brickworks Market and Food Centre #abcfoodcentre #fattycheongbujiantianwantonnoodle

To be frank, my only objective in visiting ABC brickworks hawker centre recently was the power chendol from Jin Jin dessert as the claypot rice was closed. However, i was attracted by a particular signage hanging from a stall at the far end of the food centre.

Bu Jian Tian Wanton Mee - now, in case you don't recognise the term or the Chinese characters, "bu jian tian" (translated to never see the sky) is a highly sought part of the pig that is normally unexposed and said to be utterly tender; the common title used to describe the part is armpit.

I have had the opportunity to taste that part of a pig at Tiong Bahru market and while i wasn't that impressed then; i recalled the tastiness of Fatty Cheong's char siew and persuaded my friend to share a plate of the wanton mee!

For S$3.50, i think i got an extremely good deal as there was a sizeable portion of the bu jian tian char siew that was sliced thickly with two pieces of dumplings thrown in as well.

Noodles were al-dente and the rubber-band kind that a friend of mine would totally love! As you can see, there was a nice layer of shimmering fat on the char siew and it was delicious given the well balanced meat-fat ratio and the signature saccharine charr-ness on the outside!

The delectable sauce was the perfect binder for all the stuff you see on the plate and even though i can make do without it; its addition had the amazing effect in enhancing the overall flavour of the wanton noodle. Needless to say; this is one dish i would keep as a mental note for future visits.
