K Star Karaoke - Loving the Sound System and the Different Theme Rooms @ Orchard Central [Singapore] #kstarsingapore

I can't even remember the last time i went for karaoke; hence, when my sisters suggested a karaoke session, i jumped at the opportunity, especially when it's not our usual Manekineko outlets!

Opened only in March this year, K Star Karaoke is known to be Singapore's "first-ever themed karaoke" and while i am unsure what that means since K Star could infer a more Korean concept; i am always open to reviewing new establishment.

Located at the less crowded Orchard Central shopping mall, i had walked past the karaoke before and was drawn by the big LINE character plushies and the availability of props for funny, instagrammable moments!

Unlike karaoke bars in the old days, gone were the dark, dingy corridors filled with cigarette smoke. Instead, it's almost like walking into an attraction that appeals to the young kids. Nothing wrong though since K Star is marketed as a family-friendly KTV.

The "themed karaoke" for K Star actually refers to the 25 rooms of unique themes and the one assigned to us was a mini one for 6 persons called K. Star Book Store; weird for my elder sister as she wasn't the studious type back in school!

My weak grasp in English would have labelled this room simply as the yellow room! Maybe because it was daytime when we visited, the adjustable disco lighting failed to make any drastic difference.

View of the outside; should the karaoke business turned out to be slow, the operator can consider converting some of the rooms into a themed cafe!

Knowing it would be cold for some people, the operator has kindly put in blankets! Now, we only need a few cups of hot chocolates to make ourselves even more comfortable in the room.

Those who wish to make some noises to up the vibrancy can make use of the "shakers". Thankfully we didn't bring the kids; if not, i am sure they can make hell of a racket with the shakers.

It's always a challenge to try out new karaoke system and we took a while to fumble with the buttons as there were so many options to choose from! We should have just chose "English" from the beginning as it's so much easier to read as compared to Chinese! p.s. the WiFi password can be found on the same screen.

Time to sing! Boy were we impressed with the sound system; the voice that came out from the speakers were loud yet clear and i could even feel the light vibrations from the vocal cords!

Lighted panel near the door where you can call the server, change tracks, adjust the lighting and increase / reduce the volume! Personally, i think it would be more convenient for users if the panel were placed near the table.

Drinks were not included in our package but we decided to purchase a jar of hot Chinese tea as it was too cold for us! Even i lamented if there would be some way for us to adjust the air-conditioning. The drink and food menus would be shared later in this post.

In case you are thinking of smuggling your own food / drink (like a cup of coffee from the Ya Kun shop on the same level), don't bother as there's a CCTV in the room! Don't even think of doing hanky-panky business in the room!

After we were done with our singing, i ventured to other rooms to take more photos so that you can at least have something to compare the different themes! For the pictures of all the themed rooms at K Star Karaoke, click here
