Karon View Point - View of Kata Noi, Kata Yai and Karon Beaches @ Phuket [Thailand]

Karon View Point is listed as one of the designated stopovers for a day tour in Phuket by the private driver we engaged and since i didn't have much time to conduct deep research for the trip; we decided to go with his flow for most of the items.

Weather was hot and i was almost regretting my choice; especially when i was still sleepy and the day didn't start great with me being splashed by foul-smelling water in a pothole near our hotel.

And there were stairs!!!! Okay, i think i was just being overly grumbly that day as i had climbed up Hallasan before and the short flight of stairs was obviously nothing to scream about.

View that greeted us took my breath away though.

The sight was just so pretty even though i personally feel that the trees kind of blocked the scenery. Maybe the view point can be elevated further with a separate platform on the edge of the hill known as ‘Khao Saam Haad’ (Three Beaches Hill.

A coin-operated telescope if you wish to take a closer look at the three beaches (Kata Noi, Kata Yai and Karon beaches) that made up three crescents from where we stood.

Photos of my dad enjoying the sights, but not the weather! While i have been encouraging him to venture beyond his favourite China, it's not hard to see that his heart continues to yearn for a trip to the middle kingdom! Oh well, hope it materializes next year.

Those looking to relax (or to check out the sunset view) can chill out at this old-school pavilion that felt nostalgic yet could definitely benefit from a major renovation. However, since entry to the viewpoint is free, i would make do with what's available!

Close-up view of the three beaches - with more than 40 beaches in Phuket, you can have your pick of very touristy ones (like Patong beach) or go with one that has a more relaxed atmosphere. I would likely consider one around this viewpoint area the next time i visit Phuket!

Tall trees blocking the scenic view.

We were lucky to have the weather on our side at that time as the weather took a turn for the worse a few hours later! You would see the dark clouds when i blog about the Big Buddha in the next week or so.

In the meantime, let's just enjoy the sun.

Ending the visit with excitement; taking photos with the White-bellied Sea Eagles! Click here for more details (charges etc) and photos.
